Radical and other ultra-right nationalist and xenophobic parties have a good chance of winning seats in the European parliamentary elections that kicked off Thursday, and will continue until Sunday throughout Europe.
also what I found hilarious about our party´Slovak National Party´/SNS (Slovenská Národná Strana) here written off as extremist There are a lot of total misinterpretations, but thats mostly because people writing this report have actually very little knowledge of our funny political scene. I didnt even hear anything about the war-time state leader, Jozef Tiso being judged. Everything was just a part of the coup against our neutral democracy after ww2, with commies hanging him. Nobody was saint there. About 70000 Jews were sent to concentration camps, then it halted, Tiso also gave mass exceptions from getting people there. No people were executed during the regime, it was fascist, totalitarian, but still had some normal people who knew what to do. He was a controversial politician, but who in his position would come out clean? USSR helped ? Western countries betrayed us, we had nobody at our defence. Our soldiers however not from cowardice, but from believing that they fought for the bad side were even helping the Red Army. Not everyone did, not everyone surendered to fight for the good cause. Tiso´s most controversial part was after crushing SNP in 1944 was when he gave medals to nazi german troops. However if he didnt support nazis officially, dont you think he´d be removed and more villages would have been burnt with civilians as well? Never forget, our Slovak nationalism doesnt have anything to do with national socialism, people actually dont know who they are, they are fine as long as they have their bellies full like american consumerists. SNS actually fights for our nation´s reawakening. My meaning of nationalism is what it means. Not chauvinism, but protecting values that are suffocated by american media. In our country, there is no objective media, even state owned one, including our radio station are everything against reason. I once listened to it -a documentary- it glorified the mad Patton, everything american, totally outrageous. The media in our state totally destroy our national identity with american consumerism and their version of liberalism. I guess my post is a bit aggressive, but thats it, total misinformation in that meant-to-be-information. I guess you should try asking mr. Sergej Chelemendik, a Russian deputy in SNS. Thats hilarious Anti-Hungarian, Anti-Jewish....oh and Anti-Romanian...I guess whoever looked at the situation made it wrong, or is infact a Hungarian, who knows. Read the history of 20. century. Hungarisation, put into translator: Tót nem ember, guess what. Nobody mentioned there Viktor Orbán- who is one of many Hungarians trying to make Great Hungary anew. Try getting how many times they invaded us. They talk about us as of´torn off´nation, that we want to serve them lol. I understand that RT´s interest in Slovakia is dismal, we have no resources, there is no trade route that is truly important. Širokorozchodná trať rail from Russia to Austria is not yet finalized yet...Next time somebody writing about Slovakia, get somebody educated in the area. We dont (people) stick our noses in American ass. Simple as that.
You have left out the extremist United Russia Party who wants to wipe out free speech and re-write historical events about the former brutal dictator Stalin in Russia. Even former President of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev called the United Russia "the worst version" of the Soviet-era Communist Party. Look at your own government, before pointing the finger at other governments. Hopefully, a true democracy and freedom will prevail in Russia one day. Maybe then we will have better relations....
It seems that were going to break the record of uninterest in Euroelections. Last time 17 percent voting, not it seems it will be a much lesser number. I voted for SNS and hope that there will be somebody to defend our own interests even when knowing its not gonna break through, at least our voice should be heard. Also people were uninterested because parties chose mostly not politicians to go there, but some artists, sportsmen, as if our representatives were like some donkeys to listen to Brusel imperialists. Not voting is a means of protest against parties who were seen as thieves etc. But because of that, Hungarians who are about 10% of population could easily overvote the majority and have Hungarians representing Slovakia- If this happens, then people will have a chance to get what it means not to vote. Everybody is pointing at the EU as the evil that brought them problems. In many cases its true, but underestimating of being ruled by minority in normal elections is quite big. By not voting they show that they dont care whats going on in brusel and that they dont care, because they know nothing good will come out of there. Overusing words extremist, xenophobic makes space for real extremists being called extremists and that term being nothing special. Now everyone patriotic is considered extreme nationalist...Without realizing political reality of the region and state, culture as well and differences any so called report is hugely flawed. When thinking about extremist Russian ruling party, first, its not EU, but I wonder how the report would describe the party. Possibly hypocritically. Democracy in rich, big states makes space for corruption and buying of politicians a big liability. But when looking at it from ideological point of view like written, sure URP could surely be considered extremist xenophobic etc. When trying to defend yourself from foreign control, youre xenophobic I guess...then territorial and cultural integrity and identity of nation in general is unimportant
To Tomas, Without a Free Press - there is no democracy. Thank you RT for allowing me to post my views. This is how a true democracy works..... There will always be corruption in any form of government- regardless of who rules it. However, it is the responsibility of the Free Press to keep those who work in government in line and hold them accountable for their actions.
That`s what`s called a POSITIVE DEVELOPMENT. As to the "how"s and "why"s to what led to this kind of public support of such parties - the modern politicians reap what they sow. Thay can`t be seriously believing that uncontrolled immigration, financial blunders, and everything just short of nation-wrecking will go by unnoticed. People do vote. And ain`t that the scaryest concept ever, he he.
@ C It is interesting how you people from the West ALWAYS conveniently forget, that Mikhail Gorbachev is "communist" when you try to prove your point (propaganda). Even if it is true that he said "United Russia "the worst version" USSR communists or of anything else!....So what?! It's ABSURD to accuse United Russia Party to be bigger communists than USSR communists when they are NOT communists! And on top of it to quote a communist Mikhail Gorbachev as some kind proof for your argument! Also I don't see anything bad in Russia's pride to hold back their fascist, while they present in the article opposite situation everywhere in Europe (where they gain in power every day more)! It just shows how wrong you are in your accusations against "United Russia Party". Russian democracy is not perfect, but it functions better than some European democracies today!

When I read in this report that the UK Independence Party are "xenophobic" and "ultra-nationalistic", I stopped taking the report seriously. Your reporter has been badly misinformed about this, and it makes me wonder how many of his other statements are also inaccurate. The UK Independence Party (UKIP) is against the European Union because it believes that the EU is undemocratic and remote. However, it is not xenophobic - it has many candidates from ethnic minorities. One UKIP candidate who is likely to be elected is an Argentinian woman, Marta Andreasen, who was formerly the European Union's chief accountant.
