Russia and Georgia have found themselves in rare agreement - both have criticized a UN report on the security situation in the Caucasus.
As the fifth round of international talks on the peace settlement in Caucasus opens in Geneva, the prospect of progress in resolving the conflict between Georgia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia seems bleak.
Yet another round of Geneva talks on security and stability in the Caucasus following the August 2008 conflict has brought no result. The parties failed to come to a compromise over a document on non-use of force.

The UN's observer mission on the Georgia-Abkhazia border zone will wrap up its work on the ground. It comes after Russia vetoed a Security Council draft on prolonging the UN Caucasus mandate.
