Thanks for the story. It is hard to believe that UN is trying to push a "success" story in Kosovo! Having failed in its key mission, UN would be better served keeping quiet about this "success". Kosovo was never an independent entity, and never had any legal claim to independence. Following the KLA murderous run on Kosovo Serbs, Serbian government did what every government would do --- fight secessionists on its territory. Insanely enough, NATO and all Western countries spread an amazing number of fantastic stories of the plight of the Albanian population, without a word of the plight of the real victims, Serbian unprotected minority. NATO then, against the international law, bombed Serbia and Kosovo. Under the aeges of UN, the treaty was signed that paved the way for Resolution 1244. Under that resolution, Kosovo is the province of Serbia and UN guarantees Serbian sovereignty. What a miserable failure, especially due to the weak leadership of Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon. NATO came in as a "peacekeeper", while UN was to administer the province along with the Serbian government. In fact, under the Resolution, Serbian military was to enter Kosovo gradually after six months. Also, Serbian military was to be brought in to conrol the borders. All lies. From day one, NATO allowed the Albanian thugs to expell Serbian population, while UN watched on. Over 250,000 fled the terror within the first few months of NATO "peacekeeping". The rest of Serbs were isolated in "enclaves", protected by barbed wires. Those that remained isolated were murdered in their homes, on their farms, and in their cars on the roads. So, this is success: exterminate Serbian population, give Albanians their second state, and NATO their huge military base, camp Bondsteel. Sweep unde the rug the murder of Serbs for their organs, the drug trade, and human trafficing. Some success!!!

Bianca said it all. Perhaps "world media" could improve on reporting of the destruction of monasteries and churches which occurred AFTER the NATO occupied Kosovo and Metohia. Over one hundred holy sites were burned, demolished or desecrated, in addition to destroying even the Orthodox cemeteries. A glimpse at the extent of the destruction may be obtained at http://www.kosovo.net/destruction.html
