The United Nations Security Council has extended the mandate of a peacekeeping force on the Israeli-Lebanese border for another six months, but the future of multinational peacekeepers in the region is up in the air.

It is very important that this mission continue. The Israelis cannot be trusted to keep from interfering in Lebanese affairs and will use any opportunity to agitate Hizbollah. If the mission is ended, there is a good chance that without big power backing, like that of Russia, Lebanon will be at the mercy of American made and supplied bombs, missiles, and planes from Israel and again face severe and unjust attacks and destruction.
