Forget about the U.S tax payers for a moment. Let us talk about Russia’s tax payers. Now, does the RT reporting of this story suggests that the Russian authorities were caught off guard and that they did not know about the U.S intention to set up a second base in this troubled country? We would like to hear more about how is Russia going to deal with the threat additional U.S military base in Kyrgyzstan poses to Russia’s security including the fact much of the Afghan opium trade that is eating away Russia’s youth enters Russia via Kyrgyzstan? This is the real story worth examining.

I hope it's just some desk jockey's idea and not a real plan. We should be handing over responsibility for central Asia to the CSTO, not expanding our presence there.

This rumour creation of the media is nothing more than whipping the grass so that we may see the snakes. An old tactic that stems from the times of sun tzu.

Just what my country needs, another far away military base. When we go broke, and all the crooks leave, maybe you Russians will let us buy oil from you? Just until we finally develope alternatives. That way we can finally stop funding terrorism in the Middle East.

russia is done for, usa is getting closer and closer to russian and iranian borders, .. russia is doing the same mistake as stalin did, hoping it can befriend a devil, ... it will backfire, ..first a war will be declared against iran, surrounded in all direction, and after using tactical nuclear wepons it will be destroyed, if russia just as much as protests it will be next, .. there is a reason why russia has lost its independence since obama, .. there were 3 visists by kissinger during putin era, it seem russians have been bought, for how much money i don't know, ..but we can expect it wasn't worth it and it was a terrible strategic decision, .. but what can you expect from russia, always doing the worst decisions ever..

sasha Your reference to Stalin’s self-deception thinking that Hitler will not attack the Soviet Union is apt but I do not think that Putin has been bought by the West. I do not think that Putin is making Stalin’s mistake by befriending aggressive American imperialist class. Putin wants to purchase time to prepare Russia and also see if Russia can play creative role in decoupling European interests from U.S corporate project of global domination and hyper militarism. The U.S imperialists can sense Russia is making some progress in both fronts. Russia has made significant gain in Europe in terms of both economic relations and cultural integration. Of course, the empire of militarism and global domination will do all that it can to undermine the emergence of fully functional multi-polarity global order. The U.S needs compliant Europe to clean up its mess and also to provide troops to fights its imperial wars. I do not think Europe is going along with this asymmetry destructive relationship with the U.S. Europe is waiting for Russia. What Russia needs is to prevent to U.S war of aggression against Iran by providing Iran defensive weapons. Russia must also reinforce its relationship with Europe. I want to stress the need to reinforce Russia’s relationship with Europe because stronger Russia is what Europe is waiting for before it can say no to being captive to U.S geopolitical imperatives. Russia is quietly upgrading its military capability and Russia shows it can act when it needs to act. Russia’s response to Georgia’s aggression against South Ossetia is a case in point. Now that Ukraine is a friend of Russia again, the empire is doing all that is can to continue its attempt to keep Russia distracted and out of focus.

@sasha You make just as much sense as Obama during pre-election period: "if russia just as much as protests it will be next" So someone will nuke Russia because of a protest? Sashechka, go to bed, you probably haven`t not slept for a long time or watched too much Fox News... or both. If any nuke strikes Russian soil then everybody else will have 15 minutes to reconsider what they have done in their life, call their families etc before they are atomized out of existance.

Of course America wants the base in Osh, which other country can you use to spy on Russia, China and Iran all in 1 day?? And of course the Kyrgyz government will allow it, how else can the bureaucrats afford their shopping sprees in Dubai? How else can they bribe people into starting up riots?

$10 million is a tiny amount for a US military base. And the US armed forces don't use RPGs. The clear implication made by the article is that the US is establishing a base in Kyrgyzstan for the purpose of conducting operations in Kyrgyzstan. Nice try, Russia Today. Obvious troll article is obvious.

THE SAME STORY OF THE SECOND WORLD WAR. In the Balkans USA and NATO in 1999 bombed and destroyed Serbia and implement the biggest USA base in Europe in the territory of raped and stolen and beaten Kosovo and Metohija. The same battle in the Balkans took place when Hitler invaded in 1941 than Serbian led Yugoslavia. Even the small children in the Balkans recognize that , this base is logistics towards march on Russia. I can not, believe with my own eyes that Russia is in the same place, as in 1941. now in 2010. Nobody speaks, but, USA has allover Russia borders , bases and military personal with Nuclear First strike weapon in Poland, and now for YOUR information announces that will install the same in my neighborhood, Bulgaria. USA encircled all southern borders or Russia. If Iran falls, then the NEXT IS RUSSIA. The implemented Bank-fatalistic system that USA society worship, is such that in order thrive its economy must gain more, and more, and more , and more resources. Thats why USA have been slaughtering the world since Second WW. And Russia is perhaps reaches land of Resources. So my advice to Russian people is sound and clear: PREPARE YOUR NUCLEAR WEAPONS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. The mistakes that your government made in two last decades , I don't want to say , but may cost you millions of souls. And for Americans, I can only say that those people, and elites, and governments within the governments, and secret societies, that rule USA, will not have eye - blink for the death of you and your friends and family members. Why you don't understand that you serve somebody else, and no your country. How can you go along this idiotic Nazism, fascistic militaristic policy of invading and killing other countries all over the world. Maybe in the name of terrorism that your government invented, not only in reality but more important in your mind, which belongs to THEM... But remember ALWAYS sheep, is going quietly in the slaughter house.

In deposing on 08/10,11-2010, two POLICE in the U.S. who are notoriously in the town where the police are indeed the thugs who do whatever it is they're told for the digital masters of "money," I discovered the TOP OFF events were preparing for the worst that is coming to America. Not that I did not already know what the rumor mill spun in respect to the war on terror's full spectrum dominance and this of course is the U.S. specifically, too. The US POLICE have basically been trained for globalism and WARRANTLESS ARRESTS were conveniently colored in the law to usurp the rule of it, to do what was done to Russia's S.Ossetia and Abkhazia! AMERICA'S FOURTH AMENDMENT has been gutted, accordingly. BIG O was and is an icon. All the criminal class of attorneys in the U.S. running it ("government"), were definitely given the green light of colonialism for their promised land. But, time nor tide wait for no man. The time for America to become enlightened about its ugliness is running out. There is a FEDERAL STATUTE which actually encourages the very dis-ease which Russia's president is working to remove -- corruption, bribery, and in essence the perversion of the rule, letter and spirit of the law. Nope, there is NO HOPE for America until the idea of honesty is reborn in the vocabularies of those who think freedom is just for THEM. The comatose, however, are stirring. War as a profit margin to enable global bubble holocausts coupled with natural disasters brought about by the same technology which manufactures digits on computers to sell as money, looks not so great as the picture show on earth to be watching in the 21st Century. Regardless of how many faux environmental and other forms of fraud, to sell in this modern day the same snake oil sold in yesteryear as though, then too, reality, the human population which is all really connected in the species of same - are not buying anymore deadly poisons ... with any luck or hope at all.
