The sanctions on Cuba have taken a lot of opportunities and wealth away from Cuba, much more so than any losses suffered by American loss of assets in Cuba. Because of this, the question whether socialism has been a success or a failure in Cuba is still a question unanswered. When nations deliberately gang up on one nation, cutting it off from trade and other economic opportunities, and making their development extremely difficult if not impossible, it does not matter what economic system the victim nation adheres to. They will suffer regardless. When Cuba is treated equally and its economy is allowed to progress without any hindrance, then the clock on proving the success or failure of Cuba's socialist experiment can start, but not when it is deliberately hampered with sanctions and restrictions. Cuba is simply being punished for insisting on its independence from foreign neo-colonial influence. Whatever system guarantees Cuban sovereignity is the system Cuba must follow. It does not matter what the US thinks Cuba must do.

It is funny that the US has a problem with communist Cuba and communist north korea but has no problems with communist china. It still seems to have problems with Russia even though there have been elections there for two decades. Seems to me this is not about communism at all. I think Cuba should introduce a $10 American tax that every American citizen must pay to enter Cuba and that money can go to help pay for healthcare in Cuba. Wouldn't that be funny... Americans don't even want to pay for their own health system, helping the Cuban system... The sooner the Americans return to Cuba the sooner Cuba will need a new revolution. Cuba should make laws now that prevent foreigners from any country owning land in Cuba. Otherwise Americans will go in there are buy up all the beach front land and it will be like they never left.

Agree with Paul. This little nation was so brave to resist of being sold out and become new money making sugar colony for the U.S. This money would go to one hand pocket anyway, not to the American people or taxes.

How is it possible to claim itself a Christian country and starve to death two generations of Cuban kids? If you don't want communism, fine, stop it at your door, without destroying somebody's. Let them have their own life. Cuba wants socialism - their business. US wants Capitalism - their business. That makes the systems to compet.

But Capitalism is afrad to the death that their oil, natural gas, water, which should belong to the all nation, will be nationalised.  1% of American nation wants get rich and control all wealth. They charge us for the water, which belongs to all Americans since it falls from the sky. They charge us for the natural resources, which is nothing but the bones and flesh of our encestors.

Somebody controls that and afraid to lose or give it up to the nation. Now they charge us for time (think credit cards). Next, they will impose taxes on air? Glad Cuba takes control of national possession and, hope, it will be able to trade feely with the others countries. Maybe the US wealth should think about paying the contribution for destroying the other nation.
