“Now that the Afghan presidential elections are over, it is high time for the US military to regain the initiative and to consider decisive military action,” says RT military analyst Evgeny Khrushchev.

Obama said he wanted to address the war in Afghanistan (with a view to getting out). Something which may be worrying Obama is that a recent poll shows that 66% of the UK population want British troops out of Afghanistan. They see too few results for too many troops killed. As other countries are not really keen to send many troops to Afghanistan, the Americans may find themselves fighting this war by themselves. I guess they would like to see the Afghans taking more of the responsibility (although this may be wishful thinking at present).
