Yes this could be a good shield, and it does have some benefits to Russia. But it also creates some problems for Russia. In terms of benefits, using a Russian radar, would allow us to make sure that the radar is not interrogating our airspace. Basically in terms of aim and shadows, it would not be illuminating Russian airspace. This therefore is a benefit for Russia, as it removes the issue of spying, through monitoring Russian airspace. To understand the problems introduced, you have to understand that post processed radar data, in known format, will be exported to the missile interceptor control and command centre. Now here is where the problems start. As part of the system, the interceptors are allowed in Poland, in close proximity to us. Now becasue the Radar data is of known format, and the command and control communication infrastructure is configureable and flexible. There is nothing to stop a very quick change to other Radars, which are illuminating Russian airspace. Hey presto, like magic, very quickly you have a shield transformed against Russia. Which is a trojan horse. Do you have trouble moving your laptop from one internet connection to another, no, because the data is standardised! Just the connection changes. So now look around, are there any other Radar upgrades underway in Europe that could provide for the switch above. Oh I see a few new contracts and some upgrades, very interesting and surprising! A combined global missile system is a good idea, but it really has to be a single use syetem, not a dual use syetm, or a trojan horse system. You need to look beyond the technology, to build such a system. It needs credibility, weak links and safegaurds to protect everyone involved! To achieve this needs a common design from the start, not a negotiation process of bad to better. If that is only what is on offer, the we will get out the Iskanders and EW. Because it s a safer option.
