US playing Internet monopoly

February 03, 2012 08:00

The US is seeking to control the Internet, which is an instrumental of its foreign policy. Writer and political scientist Igor Panarin believes Syria and Russia have been picked as a testing ground for America’s media intervention doctrine.

What I can not understand is why Russian government, and in that effect other governments, do not use the same technique& nbsp;in attacki ng USA.  For example, why Russian government does  not use internet to advocate&nbs p;freedom of oppressed&nb sp; Latino minority of USA.  They are 60 million strong, and yet there is no republic or autonomous&n bsp;region of their own in USA.  I am sure that Latino people of USA would LOVE to have their own republic within USA, with their own parliament& nbsp;and so on ( like in any other free and normal  country of the world ).  I am sure that if Russian government starts using internet as tool to reach to Latino populati on of USA, and gives them support in that respect in UN, regime of USA would never, ever, try to meddle  in Russian internal affairs again.
Why are not they doing that ???????

Certainly  people  like  englishman&nbs p; gary  mackinnon,  and  other  recent  hackers  into  the  US  Military  installations,  would  feel  this  american-takeover&nb sp; of  the  internet  rather  childish!  surely  the  american-security&nb sp; covert  groups  DONT  think  they  can  control  us  by  such  interference?  They  cannot  get  their  act  together  over  medium  hackers  so  this  proposed  takeover  is  farcical!  Besides,  Tis  not  just  humans  whom  browse  and  study  sites  on  the Web,  Certain  species  also  have  a  form  of  PC!

So in Summary:

The world hopes the Federation does not inhibit the "internet" in any way and furthermore ensures that it functions (at least locally) in the event of an attempted breakdown of the infrastructure in parts in or outside if the Federation.

I support the calls for the Federation the review it's action plan to ensure that a viable wireless and fixed network exists inside the Federation even in time that general DNS may go down, from most outside sites.

With the focus on Wireless,  the future of the net is obviously Wireless,
If a Russian company developed an Ad-Hoc wireless device with and independent OS , that weaved it's own web though other connected devices , it would both be completely independent and a boon for wireless success , and a very profitable company, all in one.

:D let the fixed line guys buy into it, (as they would see it as a large threat)

Sadly in my opinion the view of Prof Igor Panarin

seem to misunderstand the principal of the internet altogether, here are some points that I’d like to make:

1. the US does not "administer" the internet from US soil nor can they shut it down, at best they can punch a hole in it disabling themselves.(which sadly i think they figured out)
2. A Federation wide (and further to most other nations) "interconnection" could be up and running in a matter of days if not hours, in the event that the US would be stupid enough to "nuke" their own "intranet" (which just means the hosting servers of US sites, really.)
3. the fact that some protesters organized on Facebook is a pretty weak argument when one looks at the effects that say RT and the Ron Paul campaign have had , all an offshoot of multidimensional information flow.
4. the good Prof has mixed up the principals of cause and effect , I’m sure there is a complex sounding socioeconomic fallacy related to it but I really couldn't be bothered looking it up to sound smart, so instead I’ll just say:
5. Just because down trodden individuals in places like Egypt and other places rise up and they use a form of information to educate themselves and then consequently they ; get angry; riot; and overthrow their government , that doesn't mean that DARPA designed it , in fact if one does a psychological cross section of the different "Revolutions" one can easily see that even in a place like Libya , although the hijacked campaign was a "success" it was at an increasingly large psychological "cost" as the information flows.

6. The US and the “West” are generally viewed as War nations very similar to Nazis , this is a pretty widespread view if one was to undertake a true survey of the whole world with a cross section of demographics , so if that fallacy stands I can say that the Internet was designed by DARPA to undermine “Western” credibility which I can certainly say it absolutely has done, except to complicate things further it WAS NOT the internet that undermined their credibility it was themselves (by killing lots of people and civilians)  , the internet just means people know about it and thus can make and form an educated opinion.

that is my opinion.

******* ******** You are right, but don’t forget Russia was prevented for long to come into the game except certain fields they [the west] couldn’t control… and everything they did was about profits - as is how capitalism works; Hollywood, MacDonald’s, Coca-Cola, etc, and the internet as well. The cold-war is over, and the capitalism loses the competition. I bet they curse Gorbachev now ;) And for the best part nobody can compete, yet, with Russia in the space race …which actually is the true indicator of technological advancement.

The US will NEVER give up control  ;of the core of the Internet infrastructure and technologies (the IP address space, DNS, global fiber optics networks, etc).
Othe r nations (mainly Russia and China), should once and for all stop being  ;so stupid and, instead of just joining (with some protections), the information and propaganda network of the enemy (their enemy and the enemy of all Humanity),  they should set up their own Internet.
It's not an impossible task, in fact, its not even that hard or expensive. Its just a mater of having the political vision and courage to do it.
In reality, the way that the "American" Internet works is actually outdated. This is a decades old system which was not conceived to have the dimension and serve the requirements it does today.
If the Russian and Chinese (and anyone else&nbs p;that joins in), conceive an Internet architecture, from new, with the knowledge base that exists today, that new Internet will easily surpass the old one.
Its just a matter of doing it. If it gets done, people will come and it will rapidly outweigh the "CIA's" Interne t. Just China alone would amount to 400 million cyberna uts. It took the "CIA's" Internet 10 years to get to that size.

Establishing their hegemony is to be seen on every level, thus in constant breaching and violations …NOBODY has a monopoly over it. Is why is called INTERNET! But with their famous Orwellian mentality they always find ways to go around international rules and regumations. No wonder the occurrence of the new internet Acts ACTA, PIPA, SOPA. Russia is currently in a development of a new operating system which will be double faster than Microsoft Windows. I agree with you Radostin, Russia should follow suit with China - which had made significant achievements in shielding and protecting herself from outside penetration.

Why does Russia not develope a Russian net? This should be independet og www but usually be connected in times of peace. Europe might follow in building its own net. Don't be so lazy! The evil is quite hungry these days.
