“US is not intending to threaten Russia in any way” – US top military official

The US is reviewing its plans for the AMD shield in Eastern Europe, says Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Michael Mullen in his interview to RT.
Admiral Muellen'statement is the most hypocritical argument ever written. Count Cash is absolutly right. Not only the AMD must be scrapped, but also all military and spying installations set-up all around Russia. It is up to the USA to prove their sincerity. Or, so far we have heard a lot of talks but no acions. As I explained before on other topics: it is just a matter of business and huge fortunes made by the US military indstrial cmplex's artisans, unable to reconvert. Like Obama and all the recent US presidents that Muellen is a prisoner of that insanity. We desperatly need someone to have the courage to speak te truth and explain the simple facts. Personatly, I see only one person capable and sufficiently credible to do it: Mr Vladimir Putin. Sorry Future Generations ! Sincerely. Jean-Claude Meslin
The Americans really don't have any intention to attack Russia. Even the most hawkish old-school "better dead than red" types in the US military understand that any such action would be utterly stupid. They are having more than enough trouble in Iraq and Afghanistan - then they have worries about Iran and North Korea. Far from attacking Russia, the USA need Russia's help in allowing them to supply forces in Afghanistan and politically in connection with Iran and North Korea. They need this assistance more than they need a missle shield. The missile defence system seems to have been out of cold war fears of the old-school generals mentioned above. Many of them still think of Russia as an enemy, even when they are asking for help. Sadly, it is an ernomous waste of money which the US taxpayer can ill afford : The money would be better spent on troops on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan and/or at home in the US - transport, schools, etc. I guess Obama wouldn't be that upset if Russia made cancellation of the entire missile shield a non-negiotiable prerequisite for ongoing Russian assistance with the supply of US forces in Afghanistan. That's what I would say if I were the Russian president - and I might send some TV crews to film the deployment of Iksander missiles in Kaliningrad, just to make the point quite clear. Lastly, that George Bush unilaterally tore up an arms limitation treaty to start the missile shield program is a disgrace. It would be fair comment in future treaty negotiations for Russia to say "How can we trust any arms limitation treaty signed by a US president if it was so easy for the US to ignore the last one?"

The AMD sytem in its present form, needs to be scrapped completely. This should be the outcome of any review. The logic is simple, firstly in its present form it threatens Russia, there are no weasle words to get around it, secondly there is no agreement on its need or economical justifiability, based on its possibility to meet its purpose i.e there is no proof that it won't be an expensive white elephant that simply doesn't work, and needs even more money to fix. Nice for the contractors, but worthless for anybody else. Following a review, if we need a system, decided by both parties, then this will need to be designed from the ground up, you can't do it like 'lego' which was the original proposition. Such a new system, needs actually to work! and also has to have the required weak links in place, to make sure the interceptors cannot be used for any other purpose other than that intended. So that they don't all of a sudden become dual purpose, accompanied by the usual political NATO justification, that we had them, so of course we could use them for something else! Doing a botched job, has never been the right thing to do!
