Of course, Russia is not looking to expand its territory. No, not now. As if the rest of the world are somewhat mentally challenged to understand that. Yes, this is the thing of the past, ancient barbaric times are gone. Or are they? It is the point that Russia is trying to make, so that everybody understands clearly who is the BOSS around here. Russia does not even care about Georgia, but by crushing an independent country in one blink of an eye it is showing the world - be afraid, be very afraid. Of course, Russia is just "defending" the so called "oppressed poor nations", as it "defended" the Baltic countries of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia before and after World War II by installing the Russian regime and extermination of the local population by crushing resistance movements and deportations to Siberia. Defended those countries from themselves, from freedom, independence and democracy... Same way, not so long ago, the Chechens were "defended" from similar aspirations. Russia is still "defending" the Koenigsberg (now Kaliningrad) region. Russia "forgot" that this piece of land was agreed fo only 50 years of Russian control. There is no legal agreement for the Russian presence there. Britain surrendered Hong Kong to China. Will Russia do the same and leave it? Oh, wait, there is no need as it exterminated ALL German and Lithuanian population, so does that mean Russia owns this land now? Where is justice? Under the muzzle of a tank and war planes, it seems. Did Russia ever apologise to the occupied nations of Northern and Eastern Europe? Did Russia regret the red communism and ask forgiveness as Germany did for the Nazi atrocities? Never, nor it ever admitted occupation of the Baltic countries. Will Russia ever become a democratic and peace loving nation? Those countries around the border would love that the most. Is there hope, with free speech suppressed and Big Brother regime intensifying right now as we speak? All the world is seeing now is arrogance and pride of the Russian state. It is said that pride comes before the fall, that experience is described in the Bible with the fall of Lucifer. What is really behind the sign of St George? The world surely did not see the acts of kindness with the onslaught on Georgia... So, beware the Baltics, beware the Ukraine, beware Georgia as the zone of influence is planned for the nearest future, lose your dreams of ever becoming free nations, forget the EU and NATO. Mother Russia is breathing right behind your neck and will bite if you make any "wrong" move and try to turn away from her fatal "love". There is a long standing notion in Russia that it has a God-send mission to save the world. That would be nice. However, history spells a different story, if only to mention Ivan the Terrible who slaughtered even his own countrymen by tens of thousands over four hundred years ago or Stalin who killed by millions and half of the world enslaved by the Red Terror. The Bible teaches us that "they will speak many pleasant words but you shall know them by the fruits". What hopes do we have, Mother Russia?
