Actually I do agree with this point and now the entire world is in crisis and Russia needs Putin to lead the country in this critical moment.

Why is it that, in times of crisis, Russia always reverts to tyrany?

Bogdanov February 09, 2012, 19:01 quote

"transitional period", "Russia is in deep crisis."

Russians always think that they live in "transitional period" and "in deep crisis". This is a problem, because, this mentality leads to certain way of behavior, like, not focusing on the current day and big things, looking outside of the country for solutions, not trusting anybody around (including themselves), viewing the social system as a failure, moving out of Russia, ... Shortly, it leads to the volatile life in the volatile environment. And this results to Russians being one of the most unhappiest nation on the planet. In such conditions the country simply cannot progress or even be stable.

Change that mentality to more positive and things will go better by themselves...

Talking about giving more power to the parliament. We already saw this in the 1990s. This approach in Russia usually leads to the government having 2 heads which often are looking in different direction (like that eagle on the National Emblem). This may put the country to stall and trigger internal anarchy. Russia must have a single headed power. This is one of the most important lessons which Russia should learn from its 1000 year history. Russians shouldn't copy blindly those systems which work in other countries. They could be disastrous for Russia...

@Bogdanov
I like your post, except that it seems to me that your last paragraph, contradicts  your most important statement, "Change that mentality to more positive and things will go better by themselves.." People who have to be led by a single headed power usually do not have that self confident and positive attitude you seek for the Russian people. Perhaps I just think that self confidence and positive attitude go together.
Giving more power to the parliment means giving more government control to the population who elected the parliment representatives. Yes, you may say this is a "western view", but it is a "world enigma" as to why this representative democracy cannot work well in Russia. Russia should have learned quite a bit from the 1990's as to how to make this work bettter than when they had little experience with it.

It is not so easy to find out much about Gennady Zyuganov, other than he is the leader of the KPRF. What does he do for a living. I know he has a scientific background and education( rather impressive one ), but does he have a day job other than the KPRF?

Bogdanov February 09, 2012, 20:42 quote

PR1oh1,
Oh, you would be surprised, how happy and self-confident could be those who see themselves as a part of a group (especially, led by the One). They could way more happy and self-confident than those who walk alone. Take those, for example, who follows Christ. They feel strong and confident. Unlike me, who always in doubts and in constant search. Because, I am on my own and I am not a part of any group...

We, humans, during our life are always trying to balance two parts of our internal selves -- collective and egocentric. You cannot move alone only with one part. And the proper balance of those things play big role in people feel secure, self-confident, and happy...

Take Americans, for example. You guys may not see it, but the thing which lifts you up as a nation is ... your strong government. Strong government provides security to the Weak and they become happy. The strong government guards the wealth of the Strong and they are happy as well. The strong government preserves social hierarchies, guaranties freedoms and, thus, gives perspectives to people (they know where they will be tomorrow, or in 10 years). And that makes the nation feel united, having purpose, and being happy...

The Soviets in the 1950s-1970s were happy people (I partially, caught that time). While they had strong government...

PR1oh1, the representative democracy may work in Russia. Actually, it will. The USSR was created based on that principle. The representative democracy doesn’t' contradict to the principle of having a "single" head, which could be elected by those representatives...

Zyuganov? I don't know much about him. Primarily, because, he was rather mediocre politician in the "old times". But, surprisingly, he exhibited some American qualities -- endurance, perseverance and persistence, consistency, discipline, loyalty to that base which supports and carries him in this life. I started to respect him. Also, I think that just being a leader of KPRF is quite enough to satisfy his basic needs...

What Russia needs, as well as  Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania,  Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kirghistan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, is new Soviet Revolution.
To build a new Union based on the defense of working people and true democracy.

As citizen of Russia, I was very amusing to hear about the "deep crisis". Absurd. Russia has never in its history not was so economically developed and free, as it is now .. Therefore, a word about the "deep crisis" seem utterly ridiculous.

PR1oh1, firstly, I think being the leader of a large, important political party keeps Zyuganov busy enough without him having to worry about another job. Also, correct me if I`m wrong, but I think he`s a member of the lower House of Russia`s parliament. But if you are trying to say that lawmakers should have another occupation, then ironically I agree with you; there is much to be said for the Soviet system of government where you had cotton farmers from Tadjikistan, and metallurgy workers from the Kuzbas, and so on, converge on Moscow briefly twice a year to pass laws. This system of real working people`s participation in making public policy is infinitely preferable to the western bourgeois democratic system wherein a professional class of politicians works first and foremost for their own interests, no matter what party they belong to. The Russian working class will rue the day that they allowed this new blood-sucking leech class to take root in Russia.
