Welsh band rocks Moscow

The long, hot Russian summer seems to be dominated by tours from international bands this year. Most recently, Moscow has been rocking to the beat of the UK band, “Stereophonics”. The Welsh trio gave their first-ever Russian concert at the capital's “B1” club.

The history of the rock band began in 1992, when two of its present members, Kelly and Richard Jones, began to write songs and perform together as a teenage cover band. They grew up together in South Wales, and though they have the same family name they're not relatives.

In 1996, the band signed their first contract with a record label. Since then they've released five studio albums, many songs from which topped the charts around the globe.

In 2006, “Stereophonics” broke-up, as its vocalist and main songwriter Kelly decided he was too tired of touring and studio work, and wanted to take some time off for family commitments. But, to the pleasure of their many fans, it was only a short break, and not the end of the band. The musicians got back together with even more energy and inspiration to write and perform new songs.

Now they are again touring across the world, and their new album “Pull the Pin” will be released on October 1.
