Football: Russia goes up, England plunges

Russian national football squad has jumped ten places in the FIFA World rankings after their historic 2-1 home victory over England in Euro 2008 qualifiers. They are up to number 16 now. Meanwhile England has dropped from 9th to 11th.
It’s the second time Russia has reached 16th position this year and is also the team’s joint-highest ranking for a decade.
Argentina has regained the position of the world’s best football team.
The previous leaders of the FIFA World rankings, Italy, dropped down two positions. They are currently third, behind both Argentina and Brazil.
