College beauties compete for Miss Student title

They may end up as doctors, lawyers and investment bankers. But these A-grade Russian students have other talents too. Their good looks, dancing skills and personalities have taken them to the final stages of Moscow's Miss Student competition.

The final takes place on Russia's Day of Students, also known as Tatyana's Day, when the winter exams are finally over.

Twenty-four undergraduate beauties strut their stuff on the dance floor and on the catwalk, each one giving 100 per cent to claim this year's title.

Anna Kalinkina explained how far she'd come.

“I first won a competition at my university, then a contest for the whole district where my university is located, and now I am here at the finals,” Anna said.

They might not be dreaming of a career in show-business, but for many of these brainy girls in high heels, the world of glamour is still a big temptation.
