Russia’s coach Guus Hiddink has signed a deal to keep him in charge of the national football team until the end of the 2010 World Cup. He'd agreed in principal to stay after qualifying for the finals of the European championships this summer.
But he's now ironed out personal terms with the Russian Football Union and signed an extension to his contract for another two years. Details have not been released.
But the news will boost his side, which faces Romania in a friendly on Wednesday.
The 61-year-old steered them to this year’s European championships after beating England into second place in their group.
