UN boss won’t go to Beijing Olympics

Published 11 April, 2008, 06:56

Amid the Olympic torch furore, the UN Secretary General has announced he won’t be attending the Beijing Games’ opening. Ban Ki-moon says it’s merely a scheduling clash, but the news won’t help games organisers.

The Australian Prime Minister says he’s yet to decide if he’ll attend the games.

Meanwhile, the Olympic flame has arrived in the Argentinean capital, Buenos Aires, after more large pro-Tibet protests in the U.S. city of San Francisco.

Buenos Aires is the only city in Latin America which will host the torch.
