Stones guitarist in vodka-fuelled romance with teenage Russian

Published 11 July, 2008, 16:05

Bandmates Mike Jagger and Keith Richards and ex-bandmate Rod Stewart are urging Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood to seek help. Wood spent last week locked into his home in Ireland with a teenage Russian girl, allegedly drinking two bottles of vodka a day.

Sixty-one-year-old Wood’s drunken binge started when he met 18-year-old Ekaterina Ivanova at a London party where she was working as a cocktail waitress

According to Ivanova, Wood, a father of four, has had a confrontation with his 53-year-old wife Jo at his London apartment. Jo begged Ivanova not to steal her husband, with the Russian replying: “I am not taking him – he is leaving.”

Ivanova has written on her Facebook page that she was ‘falling in love’ and that the rock star is now her boyfriend.

Interviewed by the Telegraph newspaper, Jo Wood, denied the altercation had taken place and said the girl was 'mad'. The Woods have been together for 31 years.
