World diplomats have gathered in the Greek embassy in Moscow for this year's Embassies of the World Ball to raise money for charity.
Organised by the International Women's Club, with ambassadors and diplomats from all over the world among the guests, the annual ball is much more than just a knees-up.
“It's mainly a fund-raising event for charity,” Julietta Servantes, co-president of the International Women’s Club, told RT. “We support more than 50 charity events in the Moscow region and it's our second largest fund-raising event after the winter bazaar.”
But for dancing, the evening was filled with different auctions with an overall target of 4 million roubles ($130,000).
There was also the silent auction offering prizes like a week-long, five-star holiday in Greece. Guests were quick to bid, knowing it was all for a good cause.
"We're supporting soup kitchens; they’re amongst the biggest projects we support. We support hospitals, the disabled, burns units, children at risk, detention centres, and street people," said Anna van der Meer, charities board administrative officer.
