Reddittors Propose 'Free Internet Act'

Protester Nadine Wolf demonstrates against the proposed Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect IP Act (PIPA) outside the offices of U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) and U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) on January 18, 2012 in New York City (Mario Tama / Getty Images / AFP)

We'll take a look at a new assessment by US intelligence agencies. They say that the number one threat to the country is no longer Al Qaeda and affiliates, but Iran. Then, while a recent NYT report concluded that corporations like Apple are shipping jobs overseas because this country is failing to produce enough skilled workers, David Sirota claims this is perpetuating an education crisis myth. Also the Reddit community isn't stopping after SOPA and PIPA. There's a new suggestion to create a piece of legislation of their own, called the Free Internet Act. Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian is going to give us the details. And then don’t miss happy hour.

Outsourcing is consistent with the freemarket philosophy, but there’s a problem. If the workers in the developed countries are unemployed because their wages are too high relative to the undeveloped nations, and the workers in the undeveloped nations are paid so little that they can barely survive, who’s going to buy the goods? Another example of irresponsible corporations slowly slashing their own wrists. By the way, the education argument is just a smokescreen.

I don't believe in the current way, that the government is handling Copyrights, Trade Marks and Patents. They are only design to protect the rich. Do you think poor or middle class people that have very good ideas and creatives minds. Could afford $50.00 for every copyright, $375.00 per trademark, and $2,365 per Patent. Some of the poor and now middle class. Can't afford, not even one fee of $100.00. For some people $100.00 is whether you eat for the rest of the month, pay rent or mortgage. I do respect copyrights and obey the law. Because I don't want to get in trouble. But is it fair for everyone? No it isn't. In order to push products, inventions, ideas etc. You have to be rich already to afford it! Or take a loan that gives more money to the greedy finance banking system. They also want to take out fair use of "Copyrights" and "Trade Marks" for people that are not making money of the product and using it for illustration and educational purposes. We the 99% are the undesirable. We are currently the slaves and they are the slave masters. I think it is alright to prosper and become rich and have a good life. We are not talking about people that maintain wealth and keep a balance. Because they donate to causes and the poor. I'm talking about the filthy rich that could use $100.00 dollar bills as toilet paper and never run out. The rich that has hundred's of millions to billions of dollars in their account. Money that they are stock piling for no reason. Only doing it for status and greed while the rest of the people starve to death.
