How have Super PACs changed the face of campaigns? Are there too many Super PACs? How have they changed the tone of the debate? Do the ads they produce really help Americans figure out who is a better candidate? And can voters see who’s spending these unlimited amounts of money on campaigns? CrossTalking with Craig Holman, Seton Motley and Arun Gupta on January 23.

Oh Peter,

That episode was P-A-I-N-F-U-L... I have no idea what sort of unnatural circumstances were set in motion to...evolve?...grow?? (...made in America???) Mr.S.M. But I feel I may speak similarly for a vast proportion of the indigenous species of this planet when I suggest that we wish to fervently apologize to the universe for such a horrible experience that was projectile vomited into everyones face.

P.S.

Still like your show. But I have to run to the store for a can of bug spray...If I ever find anything the likes of Mr.S.M. under any nearby rocks, I'll be ready.

Usually Cross Talk is pretty good.  But, today, Seten Motley completely destroyed the attempt of discussion with his clamouring to push his complete and absolute ignorance of the tenants of discussion.  To use his favourite world - stupid.  And this completely describes Seten.

He totally ruined any intelligent conversation.

If I could, I would love to smack that loud-mouth Seton Motley right across his fat lips.

Seton Motley completely ruined this show with his constant, loudmouth, interruptions of everyone else while they were speaking.  Seton, apparently cannot hold onto a thought for even a few seconds to let someone else finish a sentence.  He seems to think that he can win arguments, advocate for a position, and sway others by verbally bullying everyone else involved in the discussion.  Yelling everything he says, trying to drown out what the others are saying, being rude and insulting to anyone not in agreement with, or adopting his position is what I call "stupid."  All Seton does is make it impossible for anyone to gain any new information or insight into the topic being discussed.  Just like the super pac's, Seton thinks freedom of speech means it is OK for him to drown out the voices of the regular, thinking folks.  You did a nice job of demonstrating how super pac's work Seton.  Thanks for reconfirming my beliefs.  Now, if you please, I would like to be spared from your freedom of speech for the rest of my life!

WOW this is motly said about 10 times freedom of speech dors he even know the meaning? you should not have to pay for speach ina true free democracy.  When dealing ewith politics watmoney should not be involved and corporations should not be involved. Free speech should be just the  way it is spelt  free. just because money buys   ads and many other things does not mean it should buy an election. everyone should be on the same playing field .  if america was free there would not be corpoaations buying these official campaign ads. Sorry about spelling using my phone and the box sucks.

When I watch this show I feel like it's not designed so much to create a discussion as to create a viewpoint in the audience. The  conservative who was chosen to represent the right-hand position was loud, rude and annoying -- but that was all he could be, I suppose, the way the host continuously silenced him and the liberals continuously talked over him.  I wish they would bring on someone who could actually articulate the conservative point of view (that is, the point of view that agrees with the supreme court!) instead of just getting angry and screaming, and acting as a strawman to make the liberals look even better.

I must say that the gentleman (and I use the term loosely) that was loud, rude, and condescending was brilliant! He was like a real life Stephen Colbert cleverly pointing out the blatently absurdity of his own arguements. It was genious how he gave so much weight to the other guests arguements. I find it hilarious that he may actually believe what he says. It would be awesome to have a conservitive on that could have an intellengent rational discussion, and yet, maybe pigs can fly. The political system is like a floor on the Titanic while the clowns fight for better deck chairs.

Global Warming IS a fraud, and it wasn't Super Pac's or corporate money that exposed it. It was true transparency brought forth in Climategate 1 and now Climategate 2. There's your free speech!
As for the corrupt political system, all money given to a politician, all "political money" and "monetary gifts", should be banned forever. If an individual wants to support a politician whether he is a member of the public or belongs to a corporation he can personally volunteer, man a call center and hoist a campaign sign. All money given should be equally distributed by publicly supported financing of elections without regard to candidate and there should be equal access to the PUBLIC airwaves.  If forcing those who control the media to give equal access is too draconian and doesn't fit your ideology, well, tough.

No doubt the powers that be are out of touch with reality and will do anything possible to keep themselves there. No doubt either, that they will tamper with education and media outlets to maintain the illusion that they are all that there is. The Earths cyclical mechanics indicate historically that much warmer climates than what we experience now have come to the fore. There were no humans the last time Earths climate did so. But THIS time, it's our fault! Aaaand we will be made to pay higher taxes because of it.

The powers that be are hoping that their waked-out education dumb down scheme and media brainwashing plan will pay off when they point their fingers at the mass population and blame everyone but mother nature (the true culprit) for a naturally occurring phenomenon. They have a plan to fix it too. And that means we will have to pay them for their lie. Ships that spew vapors into the air was a recent one.

Might as well feverishly wave a broomstick out your front door on Thursdays to scare away Harpies. …'See any Harpies!?' "Nope." 'See! It's working!'…

An entertaining episode, but it was nearly impossible to listen to with any depth because of the shouting ... which illustrates an important point. A virtue standing alone, without all the other virtues, becomes more cruel and more destructive than any of the vices. Liberty of speech and money are great in principle, but the US is suffering from monopolization of the flow of information and money. For this reason I am a bit wary of Ron Paul's campaign (don't get me wrong he is probably the only hope left for the US in the short term) - there is a distinct lack of good critical analysis of his policies and his background. That would be a great one for Crosstalk!

I think the shouting was a trick to distract us from hearing Americans explain why their criminal elite have made democracy a joke wherever it goes in the world.
Western countries are not democracies. Since 1948 Israel has been backed by global financial criminals who also run American and European nations like they were glove puppets.
Our taxpayer`s money is stolen and our young people`s lives are lost fighting for Israel and Global Capitalism.
If we have no democracy why are we pretending to export it? The whole world can see that freedom democracy and so called human rights are just an excuse for piracy and imperialism.
Peter Lavelle can do better than this.  Surely he can see that some of his guests are saboteurs?
