Denis Golovanov and Olga Gridneva – Costa Concordia Survivors
The catastrophe of the Costa Concordia, which was carrying over 4,000 people, has been dominating international media for more than two weeks. Some have compared it to the wreck of the Titanic that took place exactly one hundred years ago. Even now, search and rescue operations continue, as does the investigation into what really happened. The captain and first officer have been arrested.
So, what did passengers experience when the ship hit the rocks and started to sink? Is it true that the crew failed in their duty to ensure passenger safety?
We’re asking Costa Concordia survivors – Denis Golovanov and Olga Gridneva.

Thank you for this excellent and enlightening interview with Denis Golovanov and Olga Gridneva , a charming and articulate young couple , who give a very clear insight into the ships disaster . Fancy they were even playing the theme music from the film " Titanic ".
Evidently it was thought that like the Titanic , the ship was unsinkable ; not even the crew had received proper abandon ship training .
I am shocked that the Russians had their passports taken from them , as if they might escape from the
Soviet Union .
I am appalled at the lack of immediate realisation of a major disaster , first on the devastating impact and secondly the moment the ship started to list . There should have been no loss of life by people trapped in their cabins , had stewards aroused them early enough .
Thank you again for this most interesting interview . I think this RT news programme is the best ; it should be more widely viewed in the USA .
