Igor Shchegolev – Communications Minister

Russia's upcoming presidential election will be high-tech. In a bid to prevent vote fraud, some 200,000 webcams will be put in most polling stations across the country. A live video feed will be available on the Internet, making the election more transparent than ever. The first in history, the effort will cost about half-a-billion dollars – a price some critics say is too high.
So, is it really worth it? And will it be possible to implement the project only a month before Election Day?
We’re asking Russia’s Minister of Communications Igor Shchegolev these questions and more.

what will happen *after* the elections?  will all the cameras be removed?  or will Russia join the UK and US of A and become a CCTV state?
