Vladimir Ryzhkov – Opposition Politician
As the presidential election inches closer every day, Russia has seen its first major opposition rally of 2012. Tens of thousands marched through central Moscow chanting ‘give back our fair elections’ and ‘Putin must retire.’ But Putin’s supporters held a rally, too – protesting… against the protests. They warn of an unpredictable future if the opposition, seen as divided and unreliable, wins.
So, will the protest movement continue as it is? Or will the opposition change its strategy? We’re asking one of the opposition leaders and masterminds behind the protest, politician Vladimir Ryzhkov.

Ryzhkov, what a smiling happy chap, what gives him such confidence at the moment. Is he inspired by his time in regional politics, when the sorts of governance and regulation his ilk was operating at the time, destroyed and bankrupted us? Funny we didn’t see a quick run down of his past in the show, some probing questions about it. No it was a nice smiling angelic good guy approach, sort of hey I ran a nursery, we killed a lot of kids, but as long as my host doesn’t go there, I can present this fine plan for a new nursery, a bright new future – drawback is a mum of one of those kids is in the audience – oh what a shame! But ok onto now, do we see an honest approach, well no, on the one hand he proclaims of course I have a mandate to lead, look at the opinion polls – well did you apply the same logic when United Russia’s results correlated very well with the opinion polls. Oh don’t tell me opinion polls are OK when they suit him, a bit like faked Photos and internet hype. Then we get the, what a fantastic money collection system we have in Russia, no one from abroad could donate – well again, if they came with a suitcase directly, or even if they brought that suitcase into Russia then pushed it through the system. Then they would have a method for the west to be the paymaster. The problem with this interview it was too soft, too lacking in rigour. For politics we have to grill the subjects, because we need to know they stand the test of time. In this one, Ryzhkov was acting at best sloppy, careless and just running the mouth, or at worst a manipulator, contriving to be less than honest with the viewers.
