Victims of the Jehovah's Witnesses sect: “I helped my child escape the clutches of a cult”

08.12.2007 21:00

Today we will talk about Religion or rather about the dark side of what some call their religion - we will talk about sectarianism. The whole country has recently been witnessing the dramatic events developing in Penza region in Russia. 35 people including 4 children barricaded themselves inside a remote underground cave awaiting doomsday. All of them are members of Poganovskaya sect and consider themselves to be real Christians. Their 43-year leader - Pyotr Kuznetsov was diagnosed with schizophrenia and has been sleeping in a coffin in the last few months. Why is this happening in modern-day Russia, and what could be done to prevent the emerging of totalitarian sects?  Our guests in the studio today are the victims of the Jehovah's Witnesses sect - Oleg Zakharenkov and his son Aleksey.
