Russian basketball powerhouse, CSKA Moscow, have grabbed their first title of the season after outdoing all their rivals in the Final Four of the VTB United League.

The Final Four tournament took place in Vilnius, Lithuania, with CSKA beating local side Lietuvos Rytas in the semis, 79-72.

Compatriots UNICS Kazan were their opposition in the decider on Thursday. The Army Men led from start to finish collecting a 74-62 win and cruised to their third VTB United League triumph. They’ve won every year since the competition was started.

CSKA’s forward, Andrey Kirilenko, who’s on the brinks of making his NBA return with the Brooklyn Nets, was named the Final Four’s most valuable player.

“We plan to win three titles and aren’t shy to state it,” Jonas Kazlauskas, CSKA head coach, told his club’s official website. “It’s hard to say whether we’ll be lucky enough to achieve this, but we’ll try. Today we have a joyful occasion. UNICS are a talented team, who made it to the Top 8 in Europe this season.”

CSKA also play the Euroleague Final Four next week and remain in the hunt for the Russian champion’s title.

Meanwhile, Lietuvos Rytas beat another Russian team, Lokomotiv-Kuban, 91-83 in the VTB United League’s third place game.
