Australian boxer Kali Meehan has challenged Nikolay Valuev for a fight and said the WBA champ is afraid of him, Fightnews.com reports.
Meeham (35-3, 29 KOs), who is No. 1 in the World Boxing Association heavyweight rankings, said:
“Valuev is scared to face me and so is his promoter Wilfried Sauerland. My promoter Don King is negotiating with the WBA to give me this fight. I wish to give the boxing fans the fights they want to see.”
The Australian boxer’s statement comes after the Russian Giant announced that he’s considering a voluntary defense of his WBA title.

Meehan thinks he’s the man to challenge the 2.11m tall Valuev (50-1, 34 KOs).
The Aussie, who feels sure about the bout’s outcome, promises he’ll knock the Russian flat out cold, something that has never happened before.
“I’m confident of a victory. Not only a victory, but a KO victory! I will do to him what I did to DaVarryl Willamson,” he said.
Meehan fought Willamson back in 2007 and won by knockout in the sixth round.
Meehan says he’s ready to face the Russian Giant on May 30.
