IBF and WBO heavyweight boxing champ Wladimir Klitschko has started preparations for a much anticipated bout against British David Haye on June 20.
The Ukrainian’s training camp opened in Austria on Monday, at the same hotel where the Elder Klitschko – Vitaly – shaped up for his triumphant match against Juan Carlos Gomez.
”The employees of the hotel where I stay just don’t dismantle the boxing ring. Because when one Klitschko leaves – the other arrives,” Wladimir Klitschko said in an interview with Russia’s Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper.
”I’m training according to the usual schedule. The only differences are my sparring partners. But it’s a stage which I haven’t started yet, so I am not going to tell you their names,” he added.
Wladimir Klitschko’s (52-3, 46 KOs) rival David Haye (22-1, 22 KOs) is known for his aggressive PR. He recently issued a couple of thousand of scandalous T-shirts promoting himself with a picture of him holding the severed heads of both Wladimir and Vitaly Klitschko.
The Ukrainian said he’s not going to react on yet another Haye insult saying it’s because “clownery is not my style."
Haye is a former undisputed cruiserweight champion, who gave up all his titles to pursue his ambitions in the heavyweight division.
He earlier declared war on the Klitschko family, and described Wladimir’s style of boxing as primitive and funky. “Jab, jab, jab, grab,” Haye said.
”This is no war. This is a circus. Everything that needed to be said is said. Next my fists will talk in the ring in Gelsenkirchen on June 20,” Wladimir Klitschko said.
