After almost two years out of the ring, Floyd Mayweather Jr. has made an impressive return from retirement by beating the smaller, lighter Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez with a unanimous points decision in Las Vegas.
Mayweather, nicknamed Pretty Boy, made full use of his superior reach and weight in this non-title welterweight contest.
He dominated all 12 rounds, which saw Marquez hit the canvas in the second, and then landed countless damaging punches on his opponent later during the fight.
To be fair Marquez – a five-time world champion – had moved up two weight divisions for this fight, and Mayweather was always the outright favorite – remaining unbeaten now in 40 professional fights.
Russian ladies favorites at European boxing championshipThe Russian female boxing team has entered the European Championships as favorites, with the places in the first ever Olympic squad at stake for the ladies. |
Arreola promises Klitschko a knockout fightUS boxer Chris Arreola says its going to be a knockout fight between him and WBC heavyweight champion Vitaly Klitschko in their September 26 bout at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. |
The fight between Marquez and Mayweather was a good fight despite all criticisms. Hats off to both fighters as they gave their best, especially Juan Marquez. If anyone feels that its a mismatch, do not blame the fighters, blame the people who arranged the fight. If anybody feels that Mayweather was being arrogant in the post fight interview, think again. I believe the interview did not go too well because the the interviewer himself was arrogant and unprofessional and had too much to say.

Do you think that Manny could stay up with Floyd if he moves up in weight to fightr him? Floyd's natural strength and weight as well as his speed wll be too much for Manny to stay with. I realize that Floyd may still be a little rusty at least in his opinion but I think if you compare both fighters against Marquez like Floyd's chances. Thanks.
