Former undisputed champion of the world Kostya Tszyu is back in the spotlight. The fighter has opened his first boxing school in the Russian capital.
Russia's most decorated professional boxer Kostya Tszyu has teamed up with a fitness chain and opened his first ever boxing school in Moscow. It is thought that it will spawn several other branches throughout the country.
At the moment there are ten such projects on paper, but only two of them will actually start functioning now, as the financial crunch has spared no one, regardless of profession
First and foremost it is a commercial endeavor, but Kostya Tszyu is renowned for his charity work in Russia. As such, children will train at the school for free. However, the most asked question is how the champion will make sure his methodology is followed to the tee?
Although Kostya will not be in the school on a permanent basis, he has made sure that his legacy will be passed on to the next generation of Tszyu wannabees through specially certified instructors.
Aleksey is just one of four lucky coaches who managed to complete the rigorous training process necessary to become a Kostya Tszyu certified instructor, which means he will not go easy on his new students.
“This is a great achievement in my life. I had no idea I would have this breakthrough. I went through a two-month training course. It was a very tough draft and very difficult physically,” Aleksey Ryzhov says.
“Kostya stresses the general physical training and also the technique, as well as thinking. A boxer needs to learn to react faster than his competitor. It was great. I am very happy.”
As the Kostya Tszyu boxing school network expands it is likely that the former champ’s winning style might be distorted in some places. Kostya asserts, however, that he will make quality control trips to all the schools bearing his name.
Who knows? Perhaps one of his students will one day become the next undisputed champion of the world.
