@Tim --- They marched because it was "Russia Day." Why didn't the Russians march before their game with the Czechs? They certainly won't march before the game with the Greeks today. And people held red Soviet flags too. So next time, so some research before saying it was "just to support the team" and not to provoke.

What's wrong with a peaceful march?

You don't march on a foreign capital - EVER for whatever reason.

It's beyond just being a rude guest, because that is what you are, a guest in their country. It is extremely provocative.

Especially after what you did the last time you marched on their capital.
Sorr y I wanted to say not march, but like a walk. Walk to a stadium. And they got permission for this from Polish goverment.
If it was march, then there would be political sh*t involved. But it was just football. Yeah I didn't support this idea of march too, but fans wanted to support their team all the way, so they would win. Polish police and authorities said Okay. Only f*cking hooligans messed everything up.

Seriously guys? Every single comment I read here was retarded. People were insulting Poles, insulting Russians, calling RT "propaganda" and a bunch of other stupid things. The fans who are involved in violence are stupid regardless of their nationality. This isn't political, this is just a bunch of football rioting. Russia and Poland are both pretty good countries as a whole, leave them out of it.

------------ -------------- To masz, Russians will always DEFEND Poles, we belong to the same Tribe of Scythian People. On the other hand, the west has quite different ideas about you. just look the western Polish-Jokes. Russians do not have Polish-Jokes. Also pay attention to anti-Polish propaganda spread by the jews and outfits like BBC ESPN CNN. They openly call Poles "slow thinkers", anti-sem ites,  racists, drunkards and the only jobs they hire you for in the west are; toilet-cleaners and for your blond girls they have prostitution positi ons open. Think about it, Tomasz. Wake up! I saw how West treats Poles, it is sick to watch!I say; God Bless Poles and their Beautiful Blond Blue-eyed Girls!

Soviet Jews killed far more Russians than Poles!

I second von Lubomirski:)May GOD BLESS  Sir Vladimir Putin, Russians, and Russia!

So if Polish fans decide to march through Moscow in the World Cup in a few years, are you guys going to defend the Poles or will you criticize them?? Since RT is working so hard to protect the Russian marchers, I would expect them to defend the Polish marchers. But this is such a hypocritical "news" station.

@Małgorzata
You would have right, if  Russia was actually norma l lawful state. But unfortunately it is no slavs empire, but still rather mongolian one... Principle of government in Russia is from Asia, not from Europe. That's the really truble. As a Pole and a Slav I like and respect russian people, but I hated their State, because from Slav it wants to make me slave... Significant distinction ...
But of course there are cases, as I wrote erlier, in which we (Russian and Poles) can action together. As I know Russian people, a I see that in contrast to many western nation, they are still christian also in public and state matter. So in my opinion it can connect our both nations. Syria is a good occasion to start this kind of together job. But Russia as a bigger guys should make first step ....

From a historical perspective, it seems to me to be obvious that without the Russian empire most Slavic countries of central and southern Europe would have (in time) been eliminated one way or another (gorged up  by their stronger Western and Southern neigbours - the Germans and Turks).  It's' the backbone of all the Slavs (regardless of its political options, whether feudal, communist or capitalist).

In my opinion Putin and Tusk are resposible for this situation. Since a few days we have known, that clash between fans could happens and autorities of both countries should stop it.
Now it would be better, if Putin  call to Tusk and for example offer him together action in defense rights of christians in Syria, which are broken now, as we know. Together struggle in a fair matter - it could reconcile our nations ...

The Russians are too uncivilized to understand how to behave in someone's home.

They should be barred from this competition after all their provocations. This competition is for civilized people who understand things like good sportsmanship.

You see this a lot with Russian tourists. They don't represent their country well. They at like the Ugly Russian.

I agree. Russians don't know how to be good guests. When you are someone's guest at a home (and a country is like a home) you act respectfully.  If the guest is your enemy, you either still act respectfully or don't accept the invitation.  This hospitality has been known by civilized people for centuries.

Th e Russians have shown themselves to be uncivilized at the very least. But no, it goes further than that. They were being purposely procative in a way no true patriot (and all citizens should be patriots) could ignore.  They forced the Polish into a situation where they had to act like they did.

But even after that Poland showed they were "the better man" by apologizing.  And what did the Russians do with that apology? They threw it in Poland's face.

The total behavior of the Russians show they can't behave in a civilized competition. They should be banned from further participation and the VISAs of the so called "Fans" should be revoked!

Steve, who marched and when and into what capital?  There have been so many marches in and out :)  And just because you lack imagination does not mean others lack it.

Look, if I was in Russia, for example, I would be very respectiful. I would not bring up controversal topics. Yeah, I might carefully and delicately defend my country if some Russian said something negative about it, or I just might let the comment go feeling that it's not worth starting something with my host. I might just ignore the provacation.

After all, I am there as a guest. I am not there to be provacative.  I am there as a tourist and a tourist should be respectiful.   My country has diplomats to deal with all the sensitive political stuff.

But no, in this case the Russians came PRECISELY to be provocative.  Russia should be banned from participating in this competition.

"it's was Day of Russia, holiday for all Russian citizens." Yeah, but the Russians weren't in Russia - they were in a foreign country.

When one is in a foreign country they should celebrate their national holidays discretely, like at an embassey party, if they celebrate them at all.

I in fact can't imagine being out of the country for a national holiday. If I was I would celebrate it with a few other Americans in like a private party and not make a big public spectacle about it. After all I am a guest in their country no matter how I might feel personally about them. When you are in someone's home (or in this case country) you act respectfully even when you are in the home of an enemy.

Russia ns just don't know how to be good guests.  Perhaps Poland should ban them from entering their country.
