Russia’s Premier League strugglers Amkar Perm have parted company with head coach Dimitar Dimitrov. The former Bulgarian national team coach left the club on mutual grounds.
His departure comes right after a 2-1 defeat to the equally troubled Spartak Nalchik on Monday. This loss saw Amkar skid to a four-game losing streak.
This and last week’s Europa League loss to Fulham proving reason enough to split ways with Dimitarov, who took over the reins just last December.
The 50-year-old replaced Miodrag Bozovic, who led Amkar to fourth position last season.
The Perm side are currently fourth from the bottom of the table, but just one point clear of the relegation zone.
“I had a meeting with Amkar president Valery Chuprakov on Tuesday and during it we decided to cancel our cooperation. It’s the best decision in the current situation as we were unable to achieve results we counted on,” Dimitar Dimitrov told Bulgarian Darik radio.
According to media reports, Rashid Rakhimov, who was fired from Lokomotiv Moscow at the beginning of the season, is likely to replace Dimitarov.
Rakhimov has already been Amkar’s coach, back in 2006 – 2007, and saved them from relegation.
Dimitarov has become the sixth coach in Russia’s Premier League to lose his job this season after Spartak Moscow region parted ways with Michael Laudrup, while Lokomotiv Moscow rid themselves of Rashid Rakhimov.
In addition, Saturn Moscow Region saw off Jürgen Röber and Kuban Krasnodar bid farewell to Sergey Ovchinnikov.
