Both Russian clubs, Anzhi Makhackala and Dynamo Moscow, have made successful starts in the third qualifying round of the Europa League.
Anzhi won 2-0 at home to Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem to take a first-leg lead.
Oleg Shatov broke the deadlock for the home side after 63 minutes, and 10 minutes later Fedor Smolov, who is on loan from Dymano Moscow, made it 2-0 to give Guus Hiddink's men a two-goal advantage going into their trip to Holland.
Meanwhile, Dynamo Moscow drew with Scottish side Dundee United on the road.
Goals from Willo Flood and Gavin Gunning were responded by precise shots from Igor Semshov and Andrey Kokorin. Both return legs will be held in a week's time.
