CSKA have beaten Moscow rivals Dynamo for the second time in a week to go through to the Russian Cup final.
CSKA won 2-1 at Dynamo in the league on Saturday, and for most of the game on Wednesday evening it looked as though a second victory was assured. But strange things happen in football.
With five minutes to go, the score was 2-0 to CSKA.
Brazilian striker Wagner Love scored the first through the penalty spot late in the first half, while Yury Zhirkov doubled the scoring early in the second.
However, Dynamo turned it upside down in the closing minutes. In the 86th minute Dmitry Khokhlov scored for the blues-and-whites, with Aleksandr Kerzhakov netting an equalizer eight minutes later.
Extra time couldn’t separate the teams, so penalties decided who’d reach the cup final. It ended 6-5, with CSKA a touch lucky to come out on top.
The Army Men go through to play Rubin Kazan in the final on May 31.
