Andrey Arshavin was among the substitutes in Sunday’s North London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham. But the Russian international remained on the bench and has yet to make his debut in the English Premiership.

The match was eagerly awaited by Russian fans, who wanted to see a duel between two Russian superstars – Arsenal’s Arshavin and Tottenham’s Pavluychenko.

Unlike his countryman, Roman Pavluychenko appeared in Spurs’ starting eleven and was one of the most active players on the pitch, creating several good opportunities on goal but failing to take advantage of any.

In the end, the tight game at White Hart Lane ended with a scoreless draw.

The result leaves Arsenal fifth in the table. The Gunners have 44 points, 12 points behind leaders – Manchester United. Tottenham continue to struggle in mid-table, with 25 points from 25 games.

Arsenal’s website reports that Arshavin won't make his debut in club’s next fixture – an FA Cup 4th round replay against Cardiff on February 16.

The playmaker was not an Arsenal man during the first game, which ended 0-0, so he’s ineligible to play in the rematch.

But the Russian striker will be eligible to face Burnley in the FA Cup 4th Round, should Arsenal beat Cardiff.
