Barcelona fans have been rejoicing after what can only be described as a dream result against old foes Real Madrid in the Spanish Primera Liga. The Catalan side dismantled the Champions 6-2 on away turf.
A Real victory would have put the minimum of points between the top two…and that prospect looked bright 14 minutes in when Gonzalo Higuaín gave the homesiders a goal in their favor. At that moment, however, the Barcelona machine began operating full tilt.
Pep Guadiola's team pummeled their opponents into submission with six goals in just over the space of an hour. Thierry Henry and the majestic Lionel Messi both finished with braces, while defenders Carlos Puyol and Gerard Pique also got in on the act.
What is more important, Barca have moved seven points clear of Real with four matches to go, which is surely a first league crown in three years on the horizon for them.
