Former Brazilian international Ronaldo has undergone quite an atypical surgery for an active sportsman. Along with a surgery on his broken left hand, the São Paulo doctors helped him with ... liposuction.
Brazil’s Globoesporte reports that, following the hand operation, Ronaldo went on to lose 700 milliliters of fat, while initially it was planned to suck out up to 1.6 liters.
Despite the Corinthians’ striker’s request for privacy, the information made it into the newspapers.
The Brazilian genius has always had problems with excess weight. In 2008, the Sun named him the fattest footballer in history. Tough pre-season training never helped Ronaldo get his weight down. However, this didn’t prevent him from winning two World Cups and grabbing the FIFA Player of the Year award three times.
The surgery was aimed at making the forward faster and more agile once he is back on the football pitch. He is expected to have fully recovered by September.
