I watched that game, it was the dirtiest football match I have ever seen! It started with Slovenia cheering over the Russian national anthem. Then Russia answered by chanting Russia over theirs in return. Then I have never seen such a biased referee Terje Hauge should be removed from FIFA. There were some slide tackles that were just slides and Russia gets yellow cards on just about everything. Meanwhile Slovenia is punching, elbowing, pushing, totally playing like it is hockey. Slovenia deserved their goal and played better first half. Second half was even more of a nightmare with Kerzhakov kicking a loose ball from the goal keeper. The Slovenia crew attacked him and a little scrap took place with Kerzhakov being Red Carded by Terje. Slovenia with no sportsmanship what so ever taunting the players at their loss. Then Russia started to wake up with one man down. The match was the ugliest and dirtiest football I have seen a long time. At the point Zhirkov was red carded off in over time it didn't matter anymore. Russia played bad, but more dignified. Slovenia deserved the win, but it isn't one I would be proud of winning. They acted terrible. I was okay with the German loss and would have been with Slovenia if they displayed manners and sportsmanship. They were shown respect in Moscow, shame they didn't reciprocate. Dedic had heart in the game on the Slovenian side. He played like Arshavin used to play before he became a primadonna.

I think Russia should learn to complain about REFEREES!!! Why are they always getting these funny calls? With Germany and yesterday was really something....

Mr./Mrs. Luca and Artyom! Have you been watching the same game as the rest of the world; check out the comments form Germany, UK.... We've beaten you fair and square; you should be lucky you didn't loose with a bigger goal difference! Sometimes even millions can't help- It's the heart that matters!!! sLOVEnia!!!!!

@ Artyom: I could argue with you about the sportsmanship (as 2 red notes Russian players receive say another story!) - but than again - everyone has it's own view on the game.

Artyom, I totally agree. Slovenia did at least 3 fouls from the back, and that is an AUTOMATIC yellow card. The PUNCH deserved a red card on the spot, there should have not been any doubt. The referee was bought and it was so obvious it was appalling. Russians got intimidated by this immediately after 5 minutes and they are really childlike in their reactions. I honestly also think Hiddink era is over! I did NOT like his choices in the 2nd half; if Arshavin was not working why keep him on? But, the real question is why pay him top money if he is not able to get honest referees in the international Russian matches? Where are his connections? Does he care, really? And in these cases (with a bought-referee) I think a coach should jump around and fight with the 4th man to the limit, to show support to the players; I do not buy into this "northern behavior"; learn from ITALIANS! Psychology has a great role in these games and I think these kids on the field felt let down by everyone and the referee is the big boss on the field... Hiddink should have shown emotions and strength, not ice cold posture; wrong message to the world (we take it and eat it without complaints...) and the his players (do what you can, we'll talk later- but later is too late!)

Dear Tom, just keep paying referees, I guess it's the best they can do. the PUNCH was red card, point finished without discussion. Back fouls are yellow card point finish. But maybe not in Slovenia..... The matter is not winning / losing. with a decent/normal referee Slovenia could NOT play as they played, basically knowing they could get away with not-acceptable playing behavior.(they knew it in advance and it was so obvious...). Sorry but I am Italian, not Russian or Slovenian. Slovenia played better, but played in 12...

@Grigory, did you read my comment? I said Slovenia won and deserved their win. I said Dedic had heart because he played Amazing. Even if a new referee came in, all the cards taken back, Slovenia didn't elbow, push and shove... Slovenia would have won that game. Regardless. @Tom, you didn't even watch the game if you make that statement. Russia was fouled 2 times in the box, ignored. They were repeated elbowed and fouled. Russia was carded on times when they slide tackled the ball or totally missed the ball and the player. Sportsmanship, I remind you, is how dignified you are in competition. Russia didn't play any dirty tricks. Arshavin during the first game threw a temper tantrum from being played close and pushed the guy down. That was bad sportsmanship. Last nights game was full of it and it wasn't Russia. You take the lawyer view obviously or didn't even watch the game. Either way, the referee makes calls either biased or based on what he can't see. Both are wrong. In the end, Slovenia deserved that win. Dedic out played Russia regardless. Something Slovenia fans on this site obviously can't read in my comments. I didn't see any bad behavior from Dedic, but him having a great game. Do you know why I complain about this? Not because we lost. I complain because it would have been an outstanding football game if it wasn't that pushy and card heavy. Slovenia, Russia matches have been some of the most exciting football in Eastern Europe. It would be a shame for it to be a bloody rivalry and anger. Anyways, congratulations to Slovenia. And Dedic was amazing like he alone controlled the flow of the game by his hustling and amazing feats!

I was in Maribor and watched the match on the stadium. Have you seen the statisctics (ball possesion, shots,...)? What about the chances to score? I believe it was 10:2 About deserving the win there could be no question. About the referee: Can you believe: I bought him with my few Euros and millions $ worth Mr. Medvedjev, Abramovič, Miler couldn't? (where do you live guys) Or may be he is afraid of "influential" Slovenian Football Association ? Just few serious remarks: 1. I talked before and after match with several Russian fans in Maribor and there was not a word spoken about dirty game. They just shake my hand and congratulated for the win ("it is just a game" said one of them several times) 2. Jokič (nr.13- ex FC Triglav, Kranj; now not even playing regularly for his Sochaux FC, earning I believe > ten times less then Aršavin) put Russian cptn in his small pocket - that's the story 3. I have seen Mr. Abramovič on TV: after the match he applauded all players after the match for more than a minute. It was obvious that he is not happy but he can face the defeat and that's why he, Chelsea (and Russian team) might win the next match. Hopefully not against Slovenia. 4. Your Dutch coach (?) Hiddink couldn't shake hand with our coach Mr. Kek and couldn't come to the press conference after the match Don't cry. Practice, prepare and fight in next match. See below actual result of voting at Russia today portal: How did Russia miss the chance to qualify for World Cup 2010? 17% : Hiddink’s tactical blunders 17% : Arshavin’s poor performance 5% : Bad refereeing 61% : It’s hockey Russia should play, not football

Did you people even watch the game? In the firs half the refereeing was OK. In the second half the referee got a clear message from FIFA that Russia has to advance. the russians got called every touch near the penalty area. slovenians had TWO clear penalty fouls, which were not called. Once Dedić was alone in front of the keaper and he got PULLED BY THE SHIRT and KICKED FROM BEHIND HIS BACK. He got knocked down before he managed a shot on goal and nothing was called. NOHING. That happened twice and you are saying that the referee was biased towards Slovenia? Get a life. he referee was clearly biased towards Russia and the change in criteria clearly shows, that he god instructions during halftime, sepp Blatter clearly wanted to see Russia in South Africa next summer.

I will have to cool you down Slovenians, cause you seem to be overly believing it was not the referee who played with you. Last year We, Slovakia couldve won I think 2-1, western european referees I think from Holland played against us. We scored a regular goal, the referee says it wasnt a goal. If referees werent with you you wouldnt even play with Russia, but stay home while boasting. Only an easily manipulated mind can call what I saw a neutral referee. The more in the west your country is, the more they like you. Blind not to see that. In all honesty I would beat that referee until Id leave him unconscious there. Slovenians acted as those with inferiority complex. Also usually the bigger country the better referees act to them. West despises east. In turn so do I.

Artyom i mostly agree with you.. it was quite an ugly match (if you arent slovenian)...many fouls, many tackles,....Dedic was really amazing as you wrote i would like to reply to that dirtyness... this was like slovenian match of the decade..we dont go to big competitions regularly and we were kinda sad and angry we didnt qualify directly after beating slovakia twice who later won the group. Before the matches against russia we were huge underdogs. As i read from newspapers arshavin said that he hasnt seen how slovenia play and has not intention of doing it... Some of your players already talked about south africa...YOur football asociation already booked A HOTEL!!!!! in africa, you made new uniforms for national team............Before the second match Semshov said we cant play football and we were lucky to score and they will demolish us in Slovenia... They made us feel like we have no chances at all but we knew we can....and russians gave us that EXTRA will to do it.....you gave us extra motivation and i guess players got that in their mind and thats why they were a bit dirty on ocasions and very very motivated. We wanted to show that no1 will make fun of us.............. The first red card was a bit too strict in my opinion but i would say the referee didnt see the replays and on first look it did seem as intentional kick at keeper.
