Bundesliga side Stuttgart has halted talks on the purchase of striker Vagner Love from CSKA Moscow as the clubs failed to agree on the sum of the transfer.
The Muscovites have raised the price for their Brazilian star to €20 million, which was too much for the German team. In addition, Stuttgart is still unable to find common ground with the footballer himself on the salary he would receive, Stuttgarter Nachrichten reports.
Vagner Love was the best scorer in Russia’s Premier League 2008 (20 goals) and in the UEFA Cup 2008/09 (11 goals). He also has 20 caps for Brazil, for which he scored four times.
However, Vagner was off target in the current Premier League season, grabbing just three goals, with the tournament reaching its equator.
French side Lyon is also reported to have shown interest in the Brazilian.
Meanwhile, Stuttgart, who are in need of a high-class striker after Mario Gomez moved to Bayern Munich this summer, have switched their attention to Álvaro Negredo.
The striker scored 41 goals in 70 games for Almeria in the Spanish La Liga. Real Madrid owns the player and is ready to sell him for €15 million.
Chelsea’s Peruvian forward Claudio Pizarro also interests the German side.
