Former Real Madrid boss Juande Ramos has made his Russian Premier League debut as CSKA Moscow coach.
The Spaniard, who replaced Zico at the helm of CSKA just days ago, led the Army Men to a 2-1 win against Krylia Sovietov.
Ramos was facing selection problems on his first match. He had to make do without injured Chilean Fernando Gonzalez and the suspension of midfielder Milos Krasic, who picked up one too many yellow cards in their previous game.
CSKA failed to score in the opening half, so Juande Ramos was forced to make several subs to improve the team’s game. They worked perfectly.
Tomas Necid opened the scoring on 57 minutes. And Guilherme added two more after coming from the bench, 3-0 it ended.
FC Moscow 0-2 Amkar Perm
Another coach making his debut on the day was Amkar’s Rashid Rakhimov, who reunited with the team after two years.
And the Perm players wasted no time in making their boss delighted, grabbing the lead in their away game with FC Moscow after just 7 minutes. Defender Dmitry Belorukov headed in after Nikola DrinÄÂić’s free-kick.
The hosts could’ve leveled matters in the beginning of the second half, but Edgaras Cesnauskis failed to score from penalty spot.
Each team got a player red carded in the middle with some half an hour to play, but it was Amkar who scored again, as Mikhail Afanasiev scored in the 90th minute.
Rubin Kazan 5-1 Saturn Moscow Region
Defending champions Rubin are still top of the table after they crushed a hapless Saturn 5-1.
The hosts produced an electric start in Kazan, when Aleksandr Bukharov headed home a corner just 5 minutes in.
Half an hour later, a foul in the box allowed Alejandro Dominguez the chance to double Rubin’s advantage from the penalty spot.
Then Rubin really stamped their authority on things, as Aleksandr Ryazantsev scored twice in the space of 7 minutes.
The first was a delicate finish, and the second a well guided header, which gave Kazan side a 4-0 lead at half time.
After the break, the visitors pulled one back through a brilliant back heel from Marco Topic.
But Kurban Berdyev’s men continued to press, culminating in Buharov walking-in his second of the night to put the finishing touch on a 5-1 win for Rubin that keeps them 7 points clear of Spartak at the top.
Kuban Krasnodar 2-1Khimki Moscow Region
It was a late, late show in the late game of the day as a last-gasp goal gave Kuban a 2-1 win over bottom side Khimki.
Draman Traore opened the scoring for Kuban with a header 7 minutes in, but another 7 minutes on, Khimki were granted a penalty for a hand ball.
Dragan Blatnayk stepped up to convert, but Kuban got the win only three minutes into injury time, with another unlikely header – this time by Georgy Dzhioev.
