Russia overtakes England in FIFA ratings

The Russian national soccer team has moved up one spot to eighth place in the latest FIFA rankings, overtaking England.
Spain, the European champions, remains in first place. Runner-up Germany is on the second, with the Netherlands, Italy, Brazil, Argentina and Croatia not far away.
England is in ninth place, while Portugal tails the top ten.
Russia faces Azerbaijan on March 28 in Moscow in a Group 4 2010 World Cup qualifier. They then travel to Lichtenstein for another qualifier on April 1.
The Russian side is currently in second place in the group, with six points from three games. Germany leads, with ten points from four matches. The other sides in the group are Finland and Wales.
