Stevie G charged with assault after nightclub incident

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has been arrested in connection with an alleged assault. He and five other men were detained by police after a disturbance at a pub in the north west of England.
It happened in the early hours of Monday morning and a 34-year-old man from Southport was taken to hospital with facial injuries.
Gerrard was out with friends after scoring twice in Liverpool’s 5-1 win over Newcastle on Sunday – a match in which he scored twice.
The 28-year-old Gerrard was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray – an offence that carries a maximum five-year prison sentence.
The trial will take place on January 23.
