Rubin Kazan’s most recent signing Yann M’Vila could be sent behind the bars in France for an alleged connection with a 15-year prostitute.
One of the most talented players of his age M’Vila surprisingly moved from Rennes to Rubin Kazan for €12 million instead of the English Premier League this winter. The player was expelled from the French national team for reportedly organizing a night out while on duty with the French under-21 squad. He had also become the victim of a robbery by two prostitutes in 2011. He was motivated to move to Russia to escape the attention he had received at home. Now he has found himself at the center of another scandal.
France’s Le Monde paper reports that in November 2012 police detained a girl, who had been suspected of shoplifting. Further investigation found that the girl was 15 at the time of arrest and involved in prostitution. More importantly ‘explicit’ photos and text messages, discovered in her mobile phone, fed suspicions that some top football players, including M’Vila, could be connected to her.
According to French law, if it is proved that M’Vila did have sexual relations with the girl and that he knew how old she was, he could face up to three years in prison.
The case is similar to one involving Franck Ribery and Karim Benzema last year, and is another scar on the French national team.
Meanwhile, there is more bad news for M’Vila. The 21 year old may not make his Rubin Kazan debut in Thursday's Europa League clash with Atletico Madrid due to a knee problem.
