Russians/Swedes/Finn s/Swiss/Germans/etc treat hockey as an awesome fun sport, entertainment and a business NOT as a religion. So whats wrong with that? Canadians barely have history and culture so they hang on to a sport they invented as a religion. To me its quite sad not to mention weird. Other countries love hockey too but they don't cry and throw things onto the ice when their team loses(World Juniors)...surely you remember the riot last year after the Canucks lost at the Stanley Cup finals. And you say everyone should be more like Canada? No, thank you! Europe is just fine.

Do not making big deal out of this win! Russians have problem of being consistently good in how they play and this is this problem has to be resolved; Russia has to beat Canada and other top team or at least complete with them constantly to be taken seriously again. The Red Machine is not here yet; passion for the country and pride of the people is what is needed. Follow the Canadian model. Hockey is religion in Canada and players who do not play 100% each game for the country and the people are ripped into pieces by the media. I think Russian players have certain levels of discipline gap and this needs to be corrected. The discipline gape shows how when they play well the Russians are unstoppable but when they do not play well they play terrible.
