One of the world’s brightest hockey stars, Aleksandr Ovechkin, has praised the high level of competition in the Kontinental Hockey League.

Even without the NHL lockout the Washington Capitals captain, Ovechkin, says he was happy to return to his former club, Dynamo Moscow.

“I can see the level of the game, I can see the guys, the skill of the players, how they have great techniques,” the 27-year-old said. “I think right now it’s – with the NHL not working – the KHL is the best league.”

Ovechkin has so far collected 8 points (3 goals and 5 assists) in seven KHL encounters, with his performance improving with every game for Dynamo.
