Russian hockey star Aleksandr Semin will continue his NHL career with the Carolina Hurricanes.
The sides agreed a one-year deal worth $7 million on Thursday.
“I’m very happy to be a Carolina Hurricane,” Semin told the Hurricanes’ official website. “It’s a great fit for me. I look forward to playing with great players and putting together a winning season.”
The 28-year-old has joined Carolina after six seasons with the Washington Capitals, during which he collected 408 points (197 goals, 211 assists).
“Aleksandr’s elite skill level and ability to score from the wing fill an important need on the ice, and we hope that a fresh start in Carolina will serve both Alexander and our team well,” Jim Rutherford, the Hurricanes’ president, said.
Semin, who is one of 18 NHL players to have averaged 30 goals or more per year over the last six seasons, will wear number 28 at his new club.
