There has been a lucky escape for a young driver in Australia. Twenty-five-year-old George Miedecke missed a tricky corner during a rally in Tasmania and plunged his father's Ford Capri into the sea at a speed of 130 kilometers per hour.

The NASCAR racer narrowly missed another car that had fallen off the same cliff before he did.

George got away with just a few bruises.

His father Andrew, a former driver himself, will probably be content to have his son in one piece despite the demise of his much-loved car.

The driver who lost control at the same spot earlier, Ralph Norton, and his co-driver, Alex Norton, also walked away relatively unscathed.
