Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton says Moscow is an ideal place to host an F1 event. The Brit was the final flourish of the Moscow City Racing event held in the Russian capital this weekend.
The 2008 World Champion was showing off his driving skills in his McLaren car alongside fellow Formula One drivers Charles Pic of Marussia and Ferrari’s test-driver Giancarlo Fisichella.
After an exhibition race right in the heart of Moscow, the excited Brit confided to journalists that he had fallen in love to the Russian capital and that one day he would like to return here as a tourist. He also said he wants a Singapore-style night race on the streets of the city.
“I’ve seen some images of Moscow at night and it looks absolutely spectacular, so I think having a night race here one day as we do in Singapore would be one of the highlights of our season. I hope that you guys welcome us,” the RIA news agency quotes him as saying.

Russia is preparing to host its first Grand Prix in 2014 in the Black Sea resort city of Sochi, but talks of building a street circuit around the Kremlin have never ceased.
Valencia, Abu Dhabi and Singapore have all recently joined Monaco, Melbourne and Montreal in the list of cities having street circuits.
“A street circuit around a city is the most exciting thing. You see the lights, you see the architecture, you get to see so many incredible things when you’re racing,” Hamilton said.
This year saw the first time the annual Moscow City Racing was expanded to two days. While Saturday was the show time for Finnish rally star Mikko Hirvonen and a bunch of two-wheel daredevils, Sunday was devoted to Formula One and Le Mans series vehicles.
