On the Formula 1 circuit, Sebastian Vettel has taken pole position for Sunday’s Chinese Grand Prix. Fernando Alonso is second, with Rubens Barrichello third.
After Saturday’s session Vettel revealed that he had to overcome concerns about his car to prevail in qualifying and secure Red Bull’s first ever pole position.
The German was limited to single runs in all three segments of the session, but nonetheless came out on top.
“I had only one run in Q1 on the hard tyre and one run at the end of Q2 on the soft tyre, and one with Q3. We had a problem with the car, so we tried to run as little as possible. As you see you don't need more, but it was not easy,” Vettel explained.
“I am very, very happy. It's unbelievable that we made it to pole position,” he concluded.
Winner of the last two races Jenson Button could only manage fifth after dominating in practice.
