Kim Clijsters has announced she is set to return to the courts by summer 2009.
2009 seems to be fertile for big comebacks in sports. First, Lance Armstrong got back in the saddle. Then Tiger Woods shook off an eight-month lay-off from the greens. And now tennis star Kim Clijsters is set to return to the court after a two-year absence.
The former Belgian world number-one left the sport, citing an injury, in May 2007, when she was just 23.
But she's now back in training following the birth of her first child, Jada Ellie, in February 2008.
Clijsters is expected to take part in the US Open in August – a tournament she won four years ago.
